+ How to Condition & Care for Your Hair in 2020
It’s August and we have been back in the salon for the past seven weeks after delayed opening dates and several re-bookings. We are busy getting clients' hair ready for Summer-to-Autumn transformations!
Here are a few hair trends and colours that you will see this year. We are excited about the new 'bronde' hair colour, hair plaits and twists and maintaining healthy hair. Here are some fun things to do to your hair in 2020.
Bronde Hair Colour
This autumn you will see hair colour trends that are easy to transition your summer hair from blonde to a warmer tone, or vice versa. This means you no longer have to choose between two colours.
The clue is in the name: Bronde is a colour method that fuses brown and blonde tones to create a flattering, sun-kissed look. It's a perfect way to go darker and for brunettes to get a bit of blonde in their hair without going Platinum!
Rope Tail Plaits
Braided hairstyles are back in this summer, and there has been a resurrection of creative and new looks with plaits. Over the years, we have seen a lot of French braid and fishtail plaits, but the “rope plait/braids” are back in a big way! They are almost everwhere this season.
If you are not familiar with plaits, you must be wondering: what is a rope plait and why is it so popular? The rope plait is really an imitation braid. It is a plait made out of two twisted hair strands.
It is liked for its simplicity. With your hair in an up-knot or low ponytail, all you have to do is divide your hair into two or more parts and twist them (how you twist depends on the hairstyle you are after).
Here's how to do a basic rope plait:
Comb your hair and put it a ponytail.
Separate your pony into two sections.
Twist the right section clockwise, the left one counterclockwise.
Cross the two twisted sections over one another tightly multiple times.
Secure the ends braid using an elastic band. Here is one on the right that we did in the salon recently.
You can upgrade this basic look by decorating it with hair accessories, tighten your plaits or loosen the twists for a trendy, messy effect. There is also the option to change the position of your ponytail, to a low, side or high rope plait. You can also make a bun by wrapping the twisted braid around itself.
In the salon, we are focusing on the condition of your hair in 2020.
Our clients are aware of what causes damage to their hair and are always asking us about ways to avoid them. Thanks to Covid-19 and social media, we have seen a few clients who have experimented with different hair colours, styles and looks. Like pop stars and Instagram influencers, some of our clients like to change up their looks. We are staying ahead by informing clients about the condition of their hair to ensure it stays healthy and shiny.
For colour treatments, we encourage them to consider investing in OLAPLEX to minimise damage. OLAPLEX strengthens hair from within, making it stronger and able to withstand chemical processes.
